I was going to write at least three blogs last week about the happenings in our lives but they were pushed down the priority list so let me sum up.
First, a progress report on Jonny. He went in for his 6 month check-up last week and things look fantastic. He’s a bit skinny (14.7lbs) 15th percentile, but so was his daddy and grandpa…and his cousin. He is 26 inches long which is about 50th percentile so he is doing just fine. His hips are progressing well. We still put the hip brace on him at nights as a precaution and we have been instructed to continue doing that for “a while”… meaning, he could still be wearing it on his 2nd birthday. But his hips are exactly where they need to be and until they develop more there’s nothing else we need to do.
2nd thing. Never EVER let a kirby salesman in your house. No matter how much he tries to convince you a $3,000 vacuum is a necessity, and how he proves it dwarfs your little ORECK in ‘sucking power’, you simply don’t need one. And apparently it takes the better half of 2 hours to get that message across to them.
Also, most of you are already aware, Mama and I are in a “biggest loser” contest with my family and Mama’s family and friends. I think there are 12 people altogether. $20 buy-in per person and the most % lost after 10 weeks wins. I’m down at least 8lbs so far. I’m hoping to lose 30 lbs by the end of it (about 3lbs a week). Mama and I are probably going to join a fitness club again. LA Fitness has a daycare so we should be able to take Jonny with us. Mama has also lost 8 lbs so we are both looking to get more active and get in shape.
Other than that, lots of ‘Dance Dance Revolution’ on our Wii. It is as nerdy as it gets, but if you know of a better way to work up a sweat in about 5 minutes without leaving your house and keeping an eye on your six-month-old, let me know. I beat the game in 2 days. Mama claims that it doesn’t count since the setting was on ‘basic’ but I still beat it.
