When Jonny, our oldest was born, he was born with bilateral hip dysplasia (dislocated hips) and a cleft palate. He went through 3 surgeries before a year old addressing these issues. He was in basically a full-body cast for 6 mos before he was a year old.
He was super colicky, seldom slept through the night and was the pickiest eater I had ever known.
It was hard, but we figured it out. We had an inkling of what it was to be “parents.”
By the time Jonny was 5, I thought I knew everything to know about parenting, at least pertaining to Jonny.
When Jonah was born, I found out I knew nothing.
Jojo (and Jonny) have taught me to be more than I ever thought possible as a parent.
Is it difficult at times?
Absolutely. But I wouldn’t trade either of my boys for the world.
They have taught me the true meaning of “Parenthood.”
And I am exactly who they need me to be.
