Jonah has found my weakness.
It’s bedtime. I tell Jonah, “time for bed…”
Jonah climbs on our bed and says, (yes, SAYS) “hug-gies!” looking right at me with a big smile.
“Hug-gies” is the word I have been using to entice Jonah to snuggle with me ever since he was a baby.
My heart strings must have been laying on the bed because someone gave them a good YANK just then.
So we snuggled in daddy/mommies bed for a good half hour. Then I tried to put him down again.
I unsuccessfully tried to put him down 4 more times. Each time, he would counter with “Hug-gies!” and make me completely relinquish any sort of “parental authority” I thought I had.
How do you say “no” to a kid who hasn’t talked his entire life and now SAYS he just wants to snuggle with you?
I mean, why would I even WANT to say no? Out of all the reasons in the world Jonah could be keeping me awake, this is by far the best one ever.
I’ve been trying to get our sleep schedule under control since daylight savings…
But that’s not gonna happen any time soon now.
There’s NO WAY he isn’t gonna want to do this EVERY NIGHT.
And I’ll keep saying yes as long as he keeps asking. Every night.
Man, he’s getting good at this.
