I JUST HAD A VERBAL CONVERSATION WITH MY NONVERBAL CHILD!

Jojo (nonverbal 3-year-old) sees me using my phone. He walks up to me. This conversation ensued.

Me: “What’s up, bud?”

Jojo: *signs “more”

Me: “More? More what?”

Jojo: “noooooooo” (more).

Me: “More phone?”

Jojo: Laughs with glee.

Me: “okay, hold on.”
Me: Gives him the phone

Jojo (while running away with my phone): “Oh boy!… oh boy!”

Me: blinks…
Me: “huh.”

5 seconds later.

Jojo: (running back to me with the phone) “uh-oh.”

Me: surprised at his correct usage of words “what?”

Jojo: *hands me the phone. He had clicked out of the app he wanted.

I reopened the app he wanted, gave him back the phone, and he walked away. That qualifies as a conversation in my book!
