So today, Jonny sang in the Palm Sunday choir. He did fantastic.
But he couldn’t keep his shirt he wore from his performance so he was sad.
He started complaining and whining about everything. I suspect he may have been both tired and hungry as well.
He asked me if he “earned” anything for singing so well.
I told him I was very proud of him, but his attitude was not very good, and the way he was going, he would be losing privileges if he didn’t shape up.
After a little food, he came up to me and asked if he could have a garbage bag so he could clean out the car.
Our car is… a disaster. I let the kids eat back there and the floor of the backseat is basically a garbage can full of wrappers, bags, crumbs, and school papers.
I told him, that was a good idea, but maybe he could just clean his room.
He did.
And then he went and got a garbage bag and went out to the car.
Jonny must have been down there a good half an hour.
When I came down to check on him, he had hauled a laundry hamper into the car with him in addition to the garbage bag.
He was separating the things he wanted to save (toys, dvds, tablet chargers) from the things he needed to throw away.
All without asking.
Next, he asked me if he could vacuum it out.
Needless to say, he earned himself an impromptu movie date to see Boss Baby with Daddy on an otherwise busy Sunday afternoon.
