Lately, I’ve seen Jojo doing this, just with chalk.

He doesn’t “crave” dirt, but he sneaks it and does it more when I tell him to stop.

He smiles at me and says “yucky!” And promptly does it again to get my goat. The kid loves to tease me.

I know a lot of people with autism will eat non-food items, though I don’t understand the draw. Is it a sensory thing?

An iron deficiency?

It makes me want to sprinkle dirt on to new foods just to see if he’ll try it that way.
