I’ve given up trying to clean…

Please tell me it’s not just me and not just my house…

I mean, I’ve given up trying to clean the play room. (He’s just gonna play in it again, right? And by “play,” I mean, dump out every single toy from every single toy bin/box everywhere)

Jonah’s current “sensory input” activities of choice are either coloring on the walls, windows, and mirrors (with pen, marker, eyeliner, whatever he can find); throwing handfuls of similar objects into the air to “make it rain” including magnet letters, flash cards, papers and important bills, and entire bins of toys; or dumping the dirty clothes hamper out into the clean clothes, forming a giant pile of clean and dirty laundry he then runs and jumps into.

It’s a victory if he DOESN’T climb up to the kitchen counter and dump out an entire jar of cinnamon…

And clothes? WEARING CLOTHES??

It’s about 50 degrees F /10 degrees C outside and it started raining. And of course, Jonah’s clothes got wet. He refuses to wear a jacket when playing outside at home (jackets are only for going “bye-bye” and playing in the snow). But instead of just coming inside when he gets wet, no no no!! We simply strip down and continue playing outside in the freezing cold…

When I even TRY to bring a new shirt outside, he runs away shrieking so loudly, my neighbor asks him (through the fence) if he — the half-dressed, soaking, shrieking, little boy — is okay…

At least we live on a hill so EVERYONE can see…

This doesn’t just happen here… right?

RIGHT?
