Learning from experience.
When Jonah was first diagnosed with autism, I was full of fear. Fear for the future. Fear for our family. Fear about schooling… costs… coverages… EVERYTHING. I felt helpless…hopeless… and despondent.
Things might go south.
Eventually I realized that things might ALWAYS ‘go south.’ There is ALWAYS that possibility in ANY situation (autism or not). Worrying about what might happen is never productive..
You gotta just ‘git goin.’
Facing that fear, I have instead learned to live by faith. Yes, things might go badly, but we will WORK to the best of our abilities to do more than we ever thought we could.
What if instead of fearing that things (outside of our control) will go badly, we considered the possibility of the potential for growth, for breakthrough, and more than we could have imagined.
And then if things DO go badly, we pick ourselves up, we dust ourselves off, we find the support we need, and we TRY AGAIN.
