When we go to church, part of Jonah’s routine is ‘running around the church’ after the service is done. Jonah has established a running ‘lap’ that he can repeat over and over until it is time to leave.

One time I followed from a distance. Watching where he was without hovering around him. Someone opened an exit door and he bolted.

He made it to the parking lot.

So now I ‘hover’ after church. Everywhere he goes.

I don’t get to do much socializing when I am chasing him. Most my conversations consist of “Hey… what’s up?” (and then I’m gone).

And sometimes I can’t keep up with him. Sometimes Mama and I take shifts. Sometimes I will try to redirect him into playing with something stationary.

One glorious time, he played with my phone while sitting under a table a full half an hour, while I got to actually have GROWN-UP conversations! (WHAT ARE THOSE??)

How long will we keep it up?

As long as he needs us to.
