Have you guys ever tried having a sleepover with your kids’ friends? How did it go?
Jonny had some friends over for a sleepover last night.
It’s really the first one we have had since Jonah was practically a baby. Jonny has been asking to have a sleepover with his friends and honestly, sleepovers were some of the best memories I have from my own childhood.
But I didn’t think things through very well with how Jonah would react.
All things considered, Jojo did really REALLY well, until bedtime last night.
Jonny’s friends were sleeping on the futon (which is where Jojo and I will often go in the middle of the night when he is restless).
At first, he tucked himself under the covers on the futon with our guests.
But when it was time for HIM to go to his own bed, it was nearly an instant meltdown.
Jojo is not accustomed to other people staying with us and there is no “routine” in place for that.
So he had a meltdown for an hour in his room. He wanted to be downstairs on the futon. So I blocked the door. He didn’t appreciate it.
I slept on the floor in his room in front of the door. All night.
This morning, about 7:02am, he started immediately turning every light in the house on, climbed up the railing overlooking the playroom just above the futon and did a “flying leap off the top rope” into our guests who were still asleep.
GOOD MORNING!! WELCOME TO MY AUSOME HOME!
Other than that, he has been doing remarkably well today, all things considered.
Our friends found some toys that Jonah has not played with in a long time so he had a bit of a tough time sharing them since they were “new.”
But all in all, it went better than I expected.
