Me today.
Jonah is potty training. He was home all day today. I had to work…
I’m on a hard work deadline (today) and we had to leave early for Jonny’s 3–year facial-cranial review from a panel of doctors and therapists.
I had to rush out the door during “rush hour” to make it to the hospital where Jonny had his appointment.
Jonny had surgery to repair a cleft in his palate when he was about a year old and the doctors need to see if he is still getting a good ”seal” when he talks or if there needs to be more work done now that he has developed a bit more. We will see… (in 3 more years)
The appt went okay. Jonah did fine-ish… he ran around the board room, but was otherwise okay.
When we got home… the day went to pot. Dual meltdowns from both kids.
Jonah wanted to dump all the dvds out again. Jonny just wanted to put them away.
They got into a verbal shouting match with Jonah screaming “No!!! No!!! No!!!” And Jonny yelling at him to stop dumping them out.
I sent Jonny to his room just to separate them and Jonny absolutely lost it, screaming he wished his brother could just be “normal.”
It broke my heart. I’m still processing it. Jonny loves his brother, but gets easily frustrated. I had to have a real “heat to heart” with him.
I put Jonah in a bath and cleaned up the DVDs .
Jonny later apologized and they were both fine after a bit (and some dinner).
Later that evening, Jonah couldn’t find the ball he was playing with up and down the stairs. I tried to help him look, but Jonny was begging me to do homework with him. Jonah would not play with ANY OTHER BALL, even though we have dozens around the house.
So I did homework with Jonny, but I had to shut his door, or Jonah would try to distract his brother and Jonny wouldn’t be able to finish.
Jonah screamed outside the door the entire time… kicking it and pounding on it.
Jonny focused and was able to finish up, even with Jonah having a meltdown outside his door.
Then bedtime…
And I’m laying on the floor of Jonah’s room currently, waiting for Jonah to fall asleep (before he come into our room to kick me all night in about 4 hours)
And that’s not even the big stuff I’m dealing with today…
*sigh. Tomorrow will be better.
It HAS to be.
