I have a few new followers, so I thought I’d introduce myself. I made this video a year ago, one year after Jonah was diagnosed with autism.
I’m Jason. My son Jonah (5) was diagnosed with autism (level 3) 2 years ago. He was completely nonverbal. In the time since he was diagnosed, he has come a long way with interventions and his natural development. We still have a lot of the tendencies that would probably still put him in the “level 3” (severe) category, but I would characterize him as “preverbal” now.
meh… “labels, shmabels.”
Anyways, my son Jonny (10) has Specific Learning Disorder, and is on a waiting list for an eval for ADHD, dyslexia, and possibly autism as well. We’ve already been through the parenting gamut with that one.
“A Touch of Ausome” follows our journey. I started this page because it is cathartic for me to be able to express myself in some way, shape or form. Also, when I started, I had no idea what I was doing in the world of “autism” and frankly, needed some help.
And if I am able to help a few others along the way with my discoveries as I bumble along this parenting journey, all the better.
Thanks for coming along with me.
