This is so hard… especially when the sibling isn’t neurotypical either.

Developmentally, Jonah just needs a “higher” level of care than Jonny.

But it doesn’t mean Jonny’s needs are any “less.”

Jonny has a greater sensitivity to loud noises than his autistic brother.

So If we’re in the car and Jonah starts having a meltdown, Jonny CANNOT stand it and it turns into a “dual” meltdown.

As a parent if I’m alone, car meltdowns are one of the HARDEST things to get through, because I can’t remove either boy from the situation…

The only way we’ve been able to make progress with car meltdowns is just to “go through it” and hope they can learn how to regulate themselves… and hope for the best.

Just gotta take it One step at a time.
