“You can go have a seat, Dad. We’ve got this.”
This is something I never expected to hear from a hair stylist.
Haircuts used to be an absolute nightmare. It would take 3 people to get it done and Jonah would scream to high heaven.
We used to drive half an hour to a specialty kids hair salon with its own jungle gym and toys.
Jonah would have to sit on my lap while I held his arms. Mama would hold some sort of distraction like a tablet for him, and the stylist would have to go as fast as she could.
His haircut turned out how it turned out.
This video from around 2 years ago was the turning point for us.
Since then, haircuts have been much better. He will sit still for the stylist. He doesn’t need to sit on my lap. He wears the cape…He actually LIKES the feel of clippers cutting his hair!
The best part? We can go to ANY hair salon now, and he ROCKS IT..
It took time and consistency.
There have been a couple times when he just says “no” and I can tell he’s not “feeling” a haircut just then…. so we leave and try again later.
Man. Looking back at how far we’ve come with haircuts. I never thought we would be “here.”
I never thought I hear the stylist tell me, “You can have a seat, Dad. We’ve got this.”
