Jonah has rediscovered Daniel Tigers Neighborhood today.
I have probably spent years listening to Daniel Tiger learn how to “take a deep breath and count to 4” or that “grow-ow-nups come back.”
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great kids show. It teaches many valuable lessons to kids and how to handle different situations in life.
But… hearing this show… ALL. THE. TIME…
“…won’t you ride along with me. (Ride a-LO-ong!)…”
Ugh…
It it grated on me. I mean, I can only listen to the same episodes and theme music over and over again for so long right?
I literally had to wean Jonah off of this show, mostly for my own sanity.
He has since moved on to Disney/Pixar movies and home movies I take on his tablet.
But today, Jonah found Daniel Tiger again and turned on this episode.
I tuned it out (as is my instinctive reaction as soon as the first note of the PBS kids jingle comes on), but then I found myself actually considering the lyrics.
“Stop. Stop Stop! It’s okay to feel angry. It’s not… not… NOT okay to hurt someone…” and I thought…
“man. We could all use a little Daniel Tiger advice right now.”
