School today…
There is a lap top buried under that blanket.
We just had Jonah’s IEP meeting and he has been doing fantastic in-person.
He’s been working hard in reading and writing and math. He can identify every coin. He’s reading books. He’s even been sounding out sight words he doesn’t know.
But we are still in a “hybrid” model, which means one day a week, school is still “remote.”
For kids who thrive on routine, this is an awful schedule.
He LOVES being at school to learn.
Jonah is SO over “learning” through zoom meetings. We’ve spent a year trying to get Jonah engaged with remote learning.
He’s come to a general “tolerance” of it when it is incentivized with DAILY new toys and rewards just for looking at his screen.
But Today, he refused to engage at all.
Initially, he ran to our bedroom and locked the door, refusing to come out.
When he finally did, I had to follow him around the house with the lap top.
We spent the entire leaning period just trying to get him to look at the screen.
This is where we started with “remote learning.”
I tried to incentivize it but Jonah is just DONE with it. (At least for today)
To be honest, I am too…
