Could use some prayers, good thoughts and good vibes.
Jonny is back in surgery.
It’s supposed to be “routine,” but when you are “medically complex,” what surgery really is…
He’s been so anxious about this surgery. He was barely able to function this morning. I had to keep reassuring him over and over.
Jonny was given a cocktail of sedation/painkillers before he was sent back and started drifting in and out of consciousness.
He was babbling incoherently, his speech slurred for a few minutes, but as soon as they started wheeling him back, he looked right at me and said clear as day, “I love you, Daddy. I’m a big, brave boy.”
😭
“Yes you are, buddy. Yes you are. I’ll see you soon.”
UPDATE:
Thanks everyone.
Jonny is back home and (I’d say resting, but he’s playing video games).
He came through in a fantastic way. He has almost no pain, 4 hours post-surgery, despite being prescribed oxycodone for pain management.
I’m not going to get into the surgery details except to say it was somewhat invasive and he wanted Daddy to be the one to take him (and not Mama).
He made sure to thank each Doctor or nurse directly in a true Jonny fashion (completely unprompted)…
“Thank you for taking such good care of me.”
🥰
