This came across my timeline today. I completely forgot about this. Thought I’d reshare.
[Jan 13, 2022]
We have been back to the beach 3 days in a row now.
Every day, Jonah will make these in the sand and leave them there.
It’s from the movie “The Good Dinosaur” and it means “family.”
We have been coming back to the same spot, and each day, Jonah’s creation has been there.
Today, as we were walking to our “spot,” I noticed a gal was taking pictures of Jonah’s “artwork.”
I don’t know if she knew the significance, but it obviously inspired her.
And as we approached, I began to worry (of course). Jonah had created that the day before. Would he become possessive of it?
I mean, it was Day three. One of his structures was still here. That is an established routine. And Routine dictated that this little creation continued to exist. By Jonah’s reckoning, it was HIS! And ONLY his, to leave or to destroy.
Would he bully some poor stranger who may have been there all day off this random stick art on the beach? Would he protest? Become escalated? Have a MELTDOWN?
As I prepared my (well-used) apologies and explanations, the gal thankfully moved on, walking back down the beach. She had just happened upon Jonah’s “artwork.”
Jonah didn’t seem to mind one way or the other.
It made me smile.
A total stranger valued something Jonah created enough to want to take a picture of it.
Jonah’s creativity genuinely “INSPIRED” this person who probably has NO connections to our “Ausome little world.”
It was simply “inspiring.”
It was beautiful.
And it was worth remembering.
“Our family.”
