You just get on with it .
People tell me I must be used to being tired
I am used to it yes but you still feel it
Things aren’t easier because I don’t mention it often
You just get on with it .
I might not say I’m sad or worried
Doesn’t mean I’m not
I might be quieter about the struggles of daily life
It’s not because it’s easier
You just get on with it .
Over time some things improve but then new struggles arise .
Day to day battles are still there
Maybe some days I even forget that others don’t have the same ones
That your child wearing gloves in winter is standard
For me it’s a win if he keeps them on for five minutes
You just get on with it
You ring up health professionals to chase up paperwork or information
You do it without thinking
You forget it’s not ok that your told one thing and another happens
You just get on with it
People act surprised by situations you may have been in
By things you can not do or participate in
Why everything for you and your family is planned with military precision.
You do so much that you may even forget when it’s pointed out
Your normal is not like everyone else’s maybe
You don’t realise how hard you work
You don’t even think about it
It’s years of keeping going
Finding strength through love and if you’re lucky good support around you .
You just get on with it
That’s what you do .
Because you love your child
