That’s right. Straight A’s.
And we’re not talking just easy classes. He’s taken/taking Horticulture, Math, Video production, World History, English, Choir, Biology, Health, College and career prep and Geography.
Jonny does have an IEP, which has helped him get the accommodations he needs to be successful, but his teachers have provided all the help and motivation that he needs.
Every day, Jonny does probably an hour and a half of homework after school. He reads for 30 minutes, does his online learning, and then works on memorizing countries and capitals.
We have come a LONG WAY.
In third grade, Jonny used to fall so far behind, his friends would do his classwork for him because they felt bad.
This year, Jonny was selected to be part of the National Honor Society, where you have to maintain a 3.5 GPA just to be a member.
In 3rd grade, Jonny was years behind in his reading development.
He has since moved up to grade-level in his reading.
In third grade, Jonny hated writing. He could barely write out a 5-word sentence, and it would take him half an hour.
Today, Jonny told me that he wants to write a book. 😲😍
I am already eager to read it.
Sure, Jonny’s had some great teachers…
…But there is no substitution for self-confidence, consistency, and hard work, and discipline.
